Tips for Parents / Adults.

Parents can get just as excited as the kids during Halloween and may overlook some basic safety precautions. Below are some tips to help you have a fun and safe Halloween.

Make sure you know the route your kids will be taking if you are not going to be with them

If you are unable to be with your child during trick or treating you should arrange to have a responsible adult or older teenage sibling or cousin go with them.

Make you you know all other activities that a child may be getting involved with such as school functions, parties, or other special events. Make your child aware of the difference between practical joking or ticks and vandalism. Throwing objects at people or houses may be fun but at the same time may cause damages or injuries. Many are know for throwing eggs and toilet paper which can get quite messy. If a child were to make such a mess then make sure he or she cleans up the mess along with anyone else who was involved.

Children may get driven to do things that are not in their best interest by their peers. Be sure to discuss about peer pressure with your child and let them know of some of the things that their peers might pressure them into doing and let them know how wrong it is and what the consequences can be. Let your kids know about respecting other people's property or animals.

We know some adults like to drink and attend Halloween parties. Just keep in might if you drink then don't drive. Give someone your keys who has not been drinking and is completely able to drive you home safely.

If planning Halloween parties be sure to have a plan in effect. If you are preparing foods be sure to know about any food allergies any of your guests may have to avoid any sudden trips to the emergency room.

Taking the time to think about safety will allow you to have many fun and safe Halloweens.

so have fun and be safe!
